Pricing and membership

Here's what membership costs, where, and how our guarantee works.

What membership includes

  • See and pick from every meetup date posted for your area, at partner cafés near you.
  • At least one seat a month at a small table near you, backed by our guarantee*.
  • Ready-made conversation questions for your table (your Connection Kit).
  • The option to send friend requests after each meetup, to see the people you clicked with again.

You order and pay for your own coffee or food at the café. Membership is for adults 21+ in Toronto.

What does Sonderful cost?

$10 CAD/month in fully launched neighbourhoods

Fully launched neighbourhoods: $10 CAD/month (introductory price).
We fully launch neighbourhoods once enough members have signed up to run regular tables and we can offer at least 4 dates per month to everyone living there (outside of announced breaks).

Soft-launch neighbourhoods: free.
Until a neighbourhood has enough members and dates, it's in soft launch. Membership is free, and we invite select members to sign up for a smaller number of meetups, sometimes in a nearby neighbourhood. Some neighbourhoods are on a waitlist until dates open.

Please choose the neighbourhood you actually live in. We match tables by where people live, and our Terms ask you to be accurate. Choosing a different 'hood won't get you into meetups.

How billing works

Everyone is billed on the 15th. A Sonderful month runs from the 15th to the 14th, and we post each month's meetup dates by the 7th, so you can see them before you're charged.

Joining partway through a month? You pay a smaller, prorated amount for the days until the 15th, then $10 on each 15th. If your neighbourhood's first meetups haven't started yet, you won't be charged until the 15th they begin.

Months with no meetups. If we take a break in your neighbourhood with no meetup dates, such as over the winter holidays, nobody there is charged for that month. We'll always tell you ahead of time.

I'm a Founding Member†. When is my free month? Your free month is your neighbourhood's first Sonderful month after it fully launches. We'll email you before it starts.

Each month we post the next month's meetup dates by the 7th. Pick at least 2 dates, and if we can't seat you at a table, your next month is free. Terms apply*

Cancelling

Cancel any time from your account. Your membership stays active until the end of the month you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.

Cancelling doesn't delete your account. You can come back any time while your account is in good standing.

Refunds

Membership payments aren't refundable, except where the law requires it. If a month doesn't work out because we couldn't seat you, the guarantee above makes your next month free instead. See our Terms of Service for the full details.

*Sonderful guarantee: Pick at least 2 of the dates posted for your neighbourhood in a Sonderful month. If we can't seat you at a table, your next month is free. The guarantee is for paying members in fully launched neighbourhoods only, starting with your first paid Sonderful month. To count, a date must be picked at least 7 days before the meetup and kept selected until RSVPs close (72 hours before it starts). Members who decline or don't reply to an invitation, cancel, or don't show up to a meetup aren't eligible that month, and your account must be in good standing. If we post fewer than 4 dates in a fully launched neighbourhood for a month (outside any announced breaks), every paying member there gets their next month free. This is our current guarantee, as of October 2026. We may update it from time to time; the latest version is always on this page. See section 8 of our Terms of Service.

†Founding Members. If you sign up before your neighbourhood fully launches, you're a Founding Member, and your first month is free when it does launch. No payment information is needed to join. We'll email you before your free month starts; you may need to add payment information then so the months after it can be billed automatically, and you won't be charged during your free month. Sonderful decides when a neighbourhood has enough members to fully launch. We can't predict exactly when that will be, and if not enough people join in an area, it's possible we never fully launch there.
